Gabriel Morales is a guitarist, vocalist, composer, and producer based in Brooklyn, NY.
Informed by upbringing in electric blues, jazz, contemporary composition and latin-american folk musics, Gabriel’s work as an artist and instrumentalist rejects strict categorization. While rooted in the blues, his writing explores a wider harmonic and rhythmic palette paired with modern production sensibilities. In hand with these aesthetics, his lyrics deal with themes of identity, change, and perception.
As an instrumentalist, Gabriel has performed with musicians and bands such as Snarky Puppy, Michael League, Kassa Overall, Cory Henry, Ben Williams, and Yseult among others.
Gabriel also produces and mixes projects for various artists ranging from latinx songwriter to indie pop. In this capacity, he uses broad aesthetic references paired with sensitivity to artistic vision to emphasize motion, contrast, and a song’s inherent character.
Passionate about music and arts advocacy, Gabriel has worked with organizations such as The Canales Project, Music Lab at Jefferson Center, Oberlin Center for the Arts, the Taubman Museum of Art, and currently a teaching artist at Harlem School of the Arts.
Gabriel studied under Bobby Ferrazza (Donald Byrd, Clark Terry), earning a B.M. in Jazz Guitar Performance from Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Oberlin, Ohio.
